In 1955, China built a compressor program at Shanghai Jiaotong University with reference to the Soviet Union's school experience. Since then, China has begun to formally train its own compressor professionals. Jiaotong University has become an important base for China to transport, train and conduct scientific research in the compressor manufacturing industry.

In 1956, the General Institute of Mechanical Engineering, the first deployment research institute of China's petrochemical general machinery industry, was established.
In June 1963, the first technical intelligence work conference of the compressor industry in China was held in Beijing, and the National Compressor Technical Information Network was formally established.

In 1966, under the guidance of the General Machinery Industry Bureau, 31 people from 23 units including General Machinery Research Institute and Shenyang Gas Compressor Research Institute formed the “Sanhua” standard group of compressors, and drafted and verified the work at Shanghai Compressor Factory.
The "Cultural Revolution" movement of 1966 has greatly affected the development of all walks of life across the country, and the compressor manufacturing industry is no exception.
In 1969, many important scientific research projects, technical research and new product trials were almost interrupted, which greatly affected the scientific research work; the research work of the Shenyang Gas Compressor Research Institute basically stopped, and the professional science and technology publications were suspended.
After entering the 1960s, although some Chinese companies began to explore, but until the late 1970s, China's screw compressors were mainly imitation.
